Don’t feed your FOMO woes; satiate your stomach with hella good ramen, instead.
If you make your way down Judah Street at sunset on a weekend, you have seen something a bit astray—dare we say welcomingly unbelonging. Namely, a bright red paper lantern, swinging in the pressene of a heavy breeze, emblazoned with the word “RAMEN,” has appeared above the doorway of Beachside Coffee Bar and Kitchen.
Namu Gaji’s Namu Noodle pop-up began in January and appears twice a week at Beachside, offering Pan-Asian comfort food to the neighborhood. They serve Namu Gaji classics, like Chef Dennis Lee’s KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Wings, stonepot, and okonomiyaki, alongside their Namu Noodle offerings; Braised Oxtail Shoyu Ramen, Chicken Ramen, and vegetarian mushroom udon. They’re also serving-up a brisket donburi (rice bowl), limelighting their 16-hour almond-wood-smoked wagyu beef, as well as butter mochi (a Hawaiian spin on Japanese mochi) with chocolate sauce and house-made whipped cream for dessert.
This weekend is the pop-up’s last two-days of operation this year. So, should you find yourself near Ocean Beach at sunset, be on the lookout for that aforementioned swaying, vibrant lantern posted above the Beachside entrance.
It is a sure-fire sign that you’ve made it just in time to get your Namu Noodle fix.
// The last Namu Noodle pop-up is open this Friday and Saturday, 6pm-10pm, at Beachside Coffee Bar and Kitchen (4300 Judah St). No reservations necessary- so pop in and get your noodle fix before it’s gone!
