It’s Chinese New Year (the year of the dog, so you know it’s gonna be totes awesome) and its first weekend is ripe with opportunity – to get pantsless, drink beer, eat free liquid chocolate, and laugh about all the insanity that comes with online dating. Here’s what to pencil in this weekend.
Melts and malts
When: Saturday, February 17th, 6 P.M. – 8 P.M.
Where: The Chapel, San Francisco
Why: You know what’s better than beer? Beer paired with chocolate. Don’t knock it till you try it, it may just be your new favorite conversation starter. Anchor Brewing, San Francisco’s oldest brewery, has partnered with Dandelion Chocolate to present a unique tasting experience. Taste complimentary warm, liquid, unfinished chocolate while you chat with brewers and chocolate makers onsite. // 777 Valencia Street, free admission.
Pants off dance off
When: Saturday, February 17th at noon
Where: San Francisco
Why: When was the last time you ran a mile in your underwear? It’s definitely one for the books, and since it’s for charity, you really don’t have many reasons not to. Help raise money The Children’s Tumor Foundation and neurofibromatosis research at Cupid’s Undie Run this weekend. // Free to watch, registration is $40.
Root beer float, hold the root
When: Sunday, February 18th, 2 P.M. – 4 P.M.
Where: Anchor Brewing
Why: If you miss Saturday’s sweets and sips pairing (also with Anchor Brewing), make sure to be there when Anchor Brewing meets Humphry Slocombe. Choose between Anchor Steam Cream and Coffee Porter Cream, or go ahead and try a beer float! // 495 De Haro Street, free admission.
Swipe right for laughs
When: Saturday, February 17th, 10 P.M.
Where: Unscripted Theater Company
Why: The weekend after Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to find something to laugh about in the crazy world of online dating (specifically in San Francisco). Two seasons of sold out shows is a better bet that this will be a good evening than drinks with that dude who won’t stop bugging you on Tinder. // 553 Sutter Street, tickets here.
