Oh the holiday season. A much merry time to be with loved ones and to remember the spirit of coming together.
But then the dread—the annual gift giving carnival of it all. The worry of which the person getting the gift will fall in love with your hard work or not. At Bob Cut, we’ve never been one to give awful, unthoughtful gifts. Because gifts,
in a Bay Area context, should be useful, local, and provide the gifter and giftee with meaning.
This holiday season, the editors of Bob Cut have rounded up some of the Bay Area’s coolest, wearable, and downright delicious gifts that anyone is sure to love. So while you’re supporting Bay Area small business, think about giving the one you love a totally original gift. Shop the eight gift ideas down below and happy holidays!

Do you drink apéritif? Do you also hate hangovers? If you answered “yes!” to either of those questions, let us introduce you to Haus. Founded by husband and wife duo Helena Price Hambrecht and Woody Hambrecht in 2019 with the goal of “more hangouts and less hangovers” and Haus certainly delivers. Boasting 80% less sugar, natural ingredients, and the option to be mixed or served alone it seems like the answer to all of our Saturday night in prayers. Citrus Flower is one of the Haus aperitifs made with lemon and elderflower, but also invokes the tastes of grapefruit, hibiscus, and cinnamon with fruity, tropical notes and a subtly spicy aftertaste courtesy of cinnamon. With holiday packaging by Brooklyn illustrator Jing Wei, a minimalist bottle design that sparks all the joy, and a $35 price tag there’s no reason not to embrace the season of giving (Haus)!
Frolic & Detour Bakery is Anabel Lee’s pop-up and wholesale bakery in San Francisco specializing in American desserts that subtly draw from Chinese heritage, Asian snacks, and her experiences working at 20th Century Cafe and OYATSUYA. Everything is carefully handmade with a perfectionist’s heart. We love Frolic & Detour because they always have the classic baked goods everyone loves but they also have new riffs on the classics such as the Chocolate Espresso Passion Fruit Cookies *drool*. Fun fact! Frolic and detour is a term used in the law of torts. It occurs when an employee makes a physical departure from the service of their employer; aka an employee gone rogue. Follow Frolic & Detour Bakery on
Instagram to find out where they will be popping up next.
Each day reaches its apex around lunchtime, otherwise known as “high noon.” Afterwards, the day becomes a frenzied race to the finish line. Before Noon was created not to add another step to your morning to-do list, but to encourage a moment of calm in your week or your day – a space just for you. Before Noon believes that everyone is worthy of being their best self and aims to guide them into becoming their best selves through their tools to cleanse, ground, and unburden your mind. Tools such as sage, crystals, palo santo, journals, and essential oils, all wrapped in beautiful, reusable packaging. The founders of Before Noon use these tools everyday and hope that they similarly can help you discover your unlimited potential, navigate the sh*t life throws at you, and overall make you feel better. Check out their a la carte offerings or, our personal favorite, their tool boxes, each built around three healing journeys: love, grounding, and focus. Treat yourself or your loved ones to the gift of self-care and embrace the #betterfeels.
If you’re not already in love with the city as much as we are—maybe a gift that exclaims that love is ultimately necessary. City Native Co. boasts a wide range of city, neighborhood, and overall Bay Area love from tee’s to hats. Founded by James Valerio, a Mission District native, he wants those who wear his apparel to feel that sense of pride in growing up. Luckily for us, we do. The shirts come in a wide variety of colors, sizes, fits, crops, and more—making it easy to shop for a variety of loved ones. Want your baby to feel that Bay Area love as well? City Native Co. also makes apparel for children as well—a whole family situation.

Cup of Ceremony draws inspiration from traditional Japanese tea ceremonies and encourages us to slow down and enjoy the world around us. Cup of Ceremony handcrafts each of their candles and believes in the “beauty of imperfections” in addition to their focus on sustainability. We love Cup of Ceremony candles because when you buy one (or all) of their four unique soy candles—Wa-Harmony, Kei-Respect, Sei-Purity, and Jaku-Tranquility, you are welcomed to bring back the base of the candle for a complimentary refill. Each candle burns for 40-60 hours and brings a sense of peace and serenity to any space. All candles are hand poured by the team in San Francisco. The Cup of Ceremony pop-up has recently closed for the holiday season but are taking custom orders on a rolling basis on their Instagram.

The amount of plastic produced in a year is roughly the same as the entire weight of humanity. And although one person can’t fix the consequences of that weight, it only takes one person to lighten the load. To do their part, our partners at Boba Guys have created this metal straw that can be reused over and over again. And by using this, you’ll be doing your part, too! This official Boba Guys reusable metal straw comes with a pointed tip and a custom straw cleaner. What’s more? It’s 100% Stainless Steel, Dishwasher Safe, and BPA and Toxin Free! We’re proud of our partners at Boba Guys for supplying an environmentally viable option that all of our bubble tea lovers out there will appreciate. Now you can fuel your thai tea addiction and keep it sustainable!
