Call forwarding is a feature through which you can direct calls from your mobile to another phone number. With features like call forwarding, you get to stay connected through multiple devices and you can also select what numbers you want to get forwarded. Turning the feature on

Not everyone wants to avail of this feature so there is an option of turning it on or off, depending on your comfort. Now there are two ways to set this up. The first one is, it automatically forwards the calls to the second number you provide without getting any rings on your phone. And another way to do so is first the call will get directed to your phone and it rings. If you don’t answer it, then it will get forwarded to the second number.

  • To automatically direct – dial *72
  • To connect first and direct – dial *71

After dialing, make sure you get an automated confirmation message saying you have activated a specific service and then end the call.

Another way to do so is by going to their website

  • Visit their website.
  • Log in with your credentials.
  • In the header, select the voice option
  • There is a wheel icon called settings, click on it.
  • Select the ‘Call Forwarding’ option from the drop-down list
  • Under an option called ‘Advanced Call Forwarding’, specify the number you want all your calls to get forwarded to and click on add.

Know your features!

  • To avail of the feature, you must enable call forwarding from your registered Xfinity mobile device. You cannot do this through another cell phone or a computer.
  • You cannot forward calls to an international number. The numbers need to be from the US.
  • This feature includes toll-free numbers.
  • You cannot forward your text messages. Only calls.
  • Make sure to include the area code while adding numbers to your call forwarding options list
  • If you find any trouble in enabling or disabling the Call Forward feature, contact customer service to get to the bottom of it!

Turning the feature off

  • To disable Call Forwarding – dial *73

Do make sure to get an automated confirmation message after you press the call button. 

If you want to do this through their website instead of doing it from your registered mobile,

  • Visit their website.
  • Log in with the same credentials.
  • Select the voice option in the header and go to the settings gear icon
  • Select the call forwarding option, click on the always forward option and toggle it. This will disable the feature

This is an optional feature so you can switch it on and off whenever you like without it costing anything. 

If you are using the Xfinity voice unlimited saver plan, then this option is not available to you. If your plan or account is on hold, you cannot use this feature.

  1. What if I want only a few selective numbers to get forwarded to my second cell?

You can choose the numbers you want to get forwarded. 

  • To do this, visit their website and log in with your credentials. Press the gear icon called settings under the voice option. Select call forwarding from the drop-down and go to selective call forwarding. Here you can enter the number you want to and click on add.
  • If you want to do so from your mobile, then dial *63 to activate and dial *83 to deactivate.
  1. Are there any exceptions as to where I cannot forward the calls?

You cannot forward your calls to an international number. Additionally, you cannot forward calls to prisons, public payphones, motels, or hotels

  1. What to do if I get a busy signal when trying to use the call forwarding feature?

A busy signal indicates there is something wrong with the phone settings so double check to make sure there are no mistypes. That or just simply reactivate the feature.
