Wifi In the Closet

Wifi In the Closet

A WIFI network is an internet connection. At home or in business, it is shared with multiple devices via a wireless router. The router and the internet modem have a strong connection to each other. It acts as an axis to transmit the internet signal to all the devices having WIFI. People sometimes put their WIFI in their closet. It is important to put the closet in a proper position. Otherwise, it can create impediments to the WIFI signal strength.

Types Of Wifi Connections:

# Wireless/Router

Nowadays, most homes opt for using a wireless router for internet access.

Among various advantages, the most important options include- uncomplicated setting, high portability within a certain range, and its ability to connect multiple devices having WIFI connectivity. The disadvantages are, having limited bandwidth, and a reduction of internet speed with the increase of devices connected to the same WIFI network.

# Mobile hotspot or jetpack

One of the most common and safer ways to connect to the internet is mobile hotspot. The two of the most popular hotspot devices are smartphones and jetpacks. Smartphones and tablets are considered to be temporary hotspots.

The main advantage is that it is easy to use and does not require buying any extra devices. The disadvantage is it can decrease the data and battery life very fast.

Jetpack acts as a devoted mobile hotspot. It picks the signal from cell towers in the area just like a smartphone. The biggest advantage of using it is that it can be connected to many devices, and it provides a high range of WIFI connectivity. Being a separate device ,the chances of the reduction of smartphone battery power are not there.

# 4G LTE Home internet

4G LTE home internet is accessible to rural areas, where internet access is limited. It provides high-speed internet connectivity through mobile towers, which is a great advantage of it. It offers a 25 Mbps download speed and more data than one can get with a satellite. The disadvantage of it is its limited access and high cost.

# 5G Home internet

It is capable of becoming one of the best and most efficient internet services. By using powerful radio frequencies it offers a greater capacity than 4G. The only drawback is its limited availability.

Things to Consider before putting the Wifi in the Closet:

Possible Speed:

No objects should be kept near the router. Otherwise, it will create hindrances in the radiation of the signal. If someone decides to put the router in a closet, it can reduce the speed of the internet connection.

Electrical socket and its access:

It won’t make much sense to plug in the router inside the closet. If there is already an electrical socket placed in the closet, then it can be possible. But if someone still wants to place it, then they have to create a hole inside the closet with an extension.

Coverage area reduction:

To get the best access to the coverage area the router should be kept in an open area. This place should have no walls or any kinds of intervention.

Ethernet connection cables:

The Majority of routers require an Ethernet connection. It comprises wires to effectively function.

Ways of Getting a good Wifi Connection in a Closet:

# If there is no built-in power outlet in the closet one can opt for a power line Ethernet adjunct. This addition should be connected to the power socket in the closet. The other devices can be connected elsewhere in or around the house. In this way, the necessity to add a new cable through the wall can be reduced.

# Another option for getting the best result is using a wireless repeater. This device can be attached to a strategic point at home. It will make the transmission of the wireless signal from the closet easier. It is also important to check the setting of the router. Some routers can reduce the signal power because of their lesser-known power-saving feature.

Advantages and Disadvantages:

The advantage of putting the WIFI in the closet is that it can be hidden from the kids and pets. They often play with these electrical items. The router can also be placed on a high so that children or pets can’t reach over there. The main drawback of putting WIFI inside the closet is the hindrances occurring in the internet connectivity and speed.

Conclusion:

WIFI is an inevitable part of our day-to-day life. Using the closet for placing the WIFI may be tough, but sometimes we want to avoid the blinking of lights in front of our eyes. The best result can be achieved by placing the router in an open room with thinner walls. Otherwise, the WIFI signals will be interrupted by the walls in a closet. Repeaters can also be used to connect through a power line network or Ethernet. The position of the room plays a very important role. If the wired connections are put via LAN, then the result may be fine.
