Carl’s Jr. is an American fast food place operated by Carl Karcher enterprises also known as the CKE Restaurant Holdings. Founded by Carl Karcher and his wife Margaret Karcher in 1941, the restaurants first started with the name Carl’s Drive-in Barbeque. After five years, in 1946, Carl and Margaret added hamburgers to the menu. Later in 1956, they decided to change the name to Carl’s Jr. restaurants, this is because they decided to change the drive-through into a restaurant. Carl’s brother Donald Karcher joined the business in the late 1950s as a new supervisor. Donald now serves as the company’s president.
