Here we will see about the Macy’s return policy

Macy’s customers who make purchases that they don’t like can take advantage of the store’s return policy, as long as its set conditions are met, for free. Key of the conditions to accept the return in-store or through the mail is that the purchase should have not exceeded 90 days from the time of purchase.

Note that the items returned must be in their original state, be saleable, and have their original tags. However, be aware that you will not receive a refund of the shipping and delivery fees.

In the case of Cosmetics and fragrances; newly purchased or gently used ones that do not meet the customer needs are accepted at Macy’s stores.

Want to make a return?

Macy’s stores offer free returns by mail or in-store. This is not extended for international orders. For local orders, the following are excluded: gift cards, mattresses, beauty boxes, food gourmet gifts, wall art, furniture, mirrors, area rugs, and lamps. 

Note: In-store purchases are to be returned to a store while online purchases are returned by mail accompanied with an original receipt.

Wondering what if you don’t have a receipt?

Worry not, the credit card you used to make the purchase can be used. Order or shipping confirmation email, registry numbers, packing slip, or return label can be used as well.

How will you receive your refund?

  • Where the original receipt is available, or the credit card used for the purchases or return label or packing slip, then the refund will be made in the original form of payment. 
  • For gifts, if one has a gift receipt, return label, or bridal registry then the refund is in the form of store credit.
  • Where there is no proof of purchase, a customer may be eligible for a store credit for the item’s lowest selling prices in the last 180 days. 

Customer’s accounts are credited within 10 business days from the receipt of a return yet several days may pass by before activity is posted to a customer’s account. In case of multiple payment forms, credit cards will be credited the originally charged amount, and any remaining amount may be issued in the form of a Macy’s Happy Only Certificate which is mailed to the customer’s billing address in about 2 to 4 weeks.

The 90-day return policy conditions:

Apple products

Within 14 days from the time of purchase, one can return their Apple products to the Macy’s store that sells Apple products. For online purchases, returns are to be made through the mail or at stores where applicable.

Area rugs

No refunds on delivery fees and surcharges for area rugs. Preference-based returns must be in their original form with packaging materials as well.

  • For online purchases, the returns are only made by mail. Customers to contact Macy’s for a return request within 30 days from the day of delivery.
  • For in-store purchases, the returns are done to the Fine Rug gallery at select Macy’s stores no later than 7 days from the receipt date.

Backstage merchandise

The returns are to be made no later than 30 days from the day purchased at a Macy’s Backstage location only accompanied with an original receipt in an unworn, unaltered state and with original tags.

Bluemercury Merchandise

Purchases from Bluemercury shops within Macy’s stores can be returned to the store or by mail.

Designer Merchandise

  • Gucci, Tous, and Longchamp merchandise purchased at Macy’s stores still carrying the brands are eligible for return within 14 days from the date of purchase 
  • Custom orders for Alexander London are ineligible for returns or even exchange.
  • Sale merchandise can be returned within 14 days of purchase or for Burberry merchandise not later than 30 days from the date of purchase. Barberry tags must be attached as well as hygiene seals where applicable and be accompanied with original receipts.
  • For Louis Vuitton purchases, returns can be made at Macy’s Herald Square within 30 days from the date of purchase.

Dresses

Returns can be made within 60 days from the date of purchase in a saleable condition and tags are still attached. If the dress is worn, altered or tag removed, then it is ineligible for return.

Fine jewelry, bridge jewelry, and watches.

Watches and jewelry purchases with attached price tags are eligible for return within 60 days of purchase. However, the returned item undergoes inspection that can go up to 14 business days, and credit is issued once this exercise is concluded.

Altered items due to size and special-order items are ineligible for return or exchange.

Finish Line

Returns to be made within 45 days from the date of purchase in the original packaging and in a saleable condition.

Food and beverage

These items are ineligible for returns or even exchange.

Fur Vault

Returns are to be made within 15 days of receipt by mail only. Check out for a prepaid return label in the package of the item. 

Last act merchandise

These can be returned within 30 days of purchase with price tags attached. 

Lens Crafters @Macy’s

A return for a full refund can be made within 30 days from the dispense date; this means the date of purchase in-store or the date they arrive at the client’s home.

Online purchases to be returned must be mailed directly to the vendor and must not be returned to a Macy’s store.  

Lighting

For customer preference lighting returns, the customer must contact Macy’s customer service at 800-289-6229 within 30 days of receipt with the product in original condition and packaging. 

Note:

  • The return is not to be made to the store or furniture galleries.
  • No refund of the shipping fees and surcharges.
  • A 15% restocking fee will be assessed.

Locker rooms by lids merchandise

Macy’s store accepts returns within 90 days from the purchase date. For last act clearances, returns are to be made within 30 days from the date of purchase.

Macy’s beauty box items

These are ineligible for return or exchange.

Maternity.

For select maternity brands; purchases are eligible for return if within the 30-day purchase period the item is in a saleable condition and has tags attached still. Worn, altered, or items with removed tags are not to be returned.  

No in-store returns for online purchases as these must be returned by mail to the vendor.

Personal care items and small electrics

Returns are to be made within 60 days from the date of purchase. The items must be in saleable condition and in original packaging. 

Sun glass hut

Items in original condition can be returned within 90 days of purchase. 

Tech Accessories

Tech accessories with all packaging and accessories can be returned within 14 days of purchase for a refund.

Special order items and ones altered for size are ineligible for return or exchange.

Tech watches

Returns can be made within 30 days of purchase for items with original tags and packaging.

Ineligible for return or exchange is a special order or altered tech watches for size.

Toys

Returns mostly by mail are accepted within 90 days of purchase and the items must have their original tags and be in their original condition. However, there are no refunds for shipping and delivery fees.
