Here, we will see about the Sephora Return Policy
Not many people are aware of the Sephora return policy and how beneficial it can be for regular customers at Sephora. There are times when something is purchased but we are not satisfied with it, thus every company has its own return policy that sets the guidelines and familiarizes the consumer with the grounds that are set by the company itself to make the returning process of the product easy and successful.
People usually don’t read these guidelines and choose to ignore them and thus find it difficult to file a return request. Hence, via this article the consumers can be made aware of the facts related to the Sephora return policy
Applicability
The return policy is applicable to almost all kinds of purchases, that is store purchases, online purchase from the official website i.e., on Sephora.com or through third-party purchases like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube etc.
Return conditions
The product can be successfully returned under two conditions, that is if it’s totally unused and it remains in the same condition or if the product is ‘gently used’.
What is a Gently Used Product?
There are times when we buy something, try it, but it doesn’t suit us or we are not satisfied with it. In this case the product becomes a gently used item. Most companies don’t accept these return cases of used items, but that’s not the case with Sephora.
Sephora is considerate of its buyers and their money in this case and accepts the return in less than 60 days of purchase. Now, that avoids the wastage of the product and also save the consumer’s money.
Drawback
There is one obvious and reasonable drawback to the return of the online purchase of the item, that being the non-refundable delivery charges.
Returns via mail and stores
One can conduct the payment procedure through different payment gateways and the refunded money will go to the same gateway through which the payment was made but only when the item is returned within 30 days of purchase.
The procedure differs when the item is returned within 31 to 60 days of purchase. In this case, an online credit is given to the buyer which can be used at Sephora.com but it won’t be applicable at the Sephora stores.
While online Sephora store credits are taken into consideration, they too cannot be used at the Sephora stores and have their usage limited to Sephora.com.
It is important to remember that Sephora promises full refund no matter what the payment method is.
On the other hand, the policy is vice versa if the product is refunded at the store. As the company itself states- “A Sephora credit that can be used at Sephora stores but is not valid for use on Sephora.com.” This too, is valid to all the gateways, be it PayPal, Klarna, credit or debit card or even a Sephora gift card. But the online Sephora store credit cannot be used in the stores.
Non returnable items
If a Sephora item is not purchased from an official medium that is, from stores, official website or third party medium, it won’t be refunded or returned. If the product is not purchased from Sephora or doesn’t have the original Sephora packaging slip, it won’t be returned and credit won’t be given either.
Return procedure
Via store
If the purchased item is being returned at the store, it is necessary to make sure to bring the original Sephora packaging slip to the store along with the credit or debit card through which the payment was made.
Via mail
- The package should include the original packaging slip from Sephora
- The item should be returned in the manufacturer box, they way it was received. If it’s not available then the item should be returned in a well protected box to avoid any possible damage.
- Prepaid return labels should be printed with the help of a return link provided by the company itself. The return can be tracked with the help of this link.
- The returning package should be delivered to the specified FedEx location.
- Once the return is processed, a confirmation email shall be received.
What happens to the returned items?
Ever wondered what happens to the product once it’s returned? It goes back to the shelf. But this happens only if the product is unused. It is believed that gently used products too, go back to the shelf, they are used as testers. Not all Sephora stores use the gently used products as testers. These policies are not fixed and are different in every store; these guidelines can be modified according to the situations.
The products that are thrown away by Sephora are often damaged as they are trashed.
Sephora keeps a track of consumers who regularly buy and return items. Thus the official website also states that-“Sephora monitors return activity for abuse and reserves the right to limit returns or exchanges at Sephora and Sephora inside JCPenney in all instances.
