There are hundreds of actions behind the brand that contribute to creating such a positive image in people’s minds and the Coke rewards program is one of them. This article will review the former and new loyalty programs created by The Coca-Cola Company. By doing so, understanding the success of the brand will be easier.
The Coca-Cola Rewards was a loyalty program discontinued in 2017. Nowadays, a new rewards program exists and it is called Sip & Scan. Keep reading to find out all about it, how to join, as well as what to expect from this amazing initiative.
Coca-Cola Company
The Coca-Cola Company is best known for producing and selling the popular drink Coca-Cola, invented in 1886 and sold in 1889 to Asa Griggs Candler. Later on, the company was established in 1892 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Today, Coca-Cola Company has a multinational presence and expanded its production to many beverages. Before the Covid-19 arrived, the company produced about 500 brands, but some of them were discontinued as a consequence of the economic crisis derived from the pandemic.
Speaking of its brand presence, Coca-Cola is one of the most popular products in the world. Coke’s image is linked to feelings of happiness and human connection. This is mostly because of the efforts that the company has made to transform the brand into a merry good that appeals to all cultures.
Coke Rewards
The Coke Rewards, also known as My Coke Rewards, was a loyalty program that belonged to the Coca-Cola Company. The program launched in 2006 and was available in English for all members. The Coke Rewards worked in this way:
- Members would find codes on select Coca-Cola products.
- These codes would be entered on Coca-Cola’s website and converted into points.
- By accumulating points, members would redeem them in the form of prizes.
During its first year, more than a million prizes were redeemed. In 2013, a new system was launched, called My Coke Rewards Beta. This new program introduced the “status points”, which allowed members to level up and be awarded when they did.
Coke Rewards was discontinued in 2017
What Happened To Coke Rewards?
When My Coke Rewards was dissolved, members stopped being able to use their points. The remaining codes can still be found in some products, but they no longer work.
Members received notice about the program’s discontinuation and had four months (before the dissolution, on June 30, 2017) to redeem accumulated points. After that period, the remaining points were donated to charity by Coca-Cola.
However, Coca-Cola was planning on launching a new loyalty program, and so it did: The Sip & Scan rewards program.
Sip & Scan
The Sip & Scan program is a new loyalty program that works the same as the former program did. Members are supposed to scan the codes they see on Coca-Cola products with their phones using the Sip & Scan app. Besides getting rewards, sweepstakes, and perks, members can access personalized experiences.
The fun part is that members of the former Coke Rewards Program are still able to use their username and password to sign in to this new program.
Coca-Cola’s brands that participate in the Sip & Scan program are Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Diet, Sprite, Fanta, Powerade, Dasani, Fresca, Fuze, and Peace Tea, among others. Nevertheless, the new packaging of different Coca-Cola products can also include the Sip & Scan icon.
How to join?
Scanning codes to earn points is easy, so once a member is settled to start saving and accumulating them, it is pretty enjoyable to be part of the Sip & Scan program. Let’s review how to do it:
- Access to Coke.com.
- Go to the person icon on the upper right menu.
- Click on “Account Sign In”.
- Click on the red button that says “Sign Up”.
- Enter an email address, first and last name, password, birthday, and zip code. Don’t forget to agree to the terms!
- Click on “Submit”.
That is how simple signing.
