Michelin Tire Warranty- Know Its Benefits

A warranty is a legally binding document given to a buyer by the manufacturer of a product as a guarantee that the manufacturer will repair or replace the product in case of any damage as stipulated in the document at a given time. The customer should keep their copy of the warranty and the receipt and present it to the service center if it is required during the repair or replacement of the tire. Michelin provides its customers with a tire warranty whenever they purchase a tire from Michelin or its related stores.

Michelin Tire Warranty

The customer first has to register their tires at www.tireregistration.com or send their tire registration card to Michelin. The tire warranty gives customers a guarantee of Michelin tires to repair or replace their tires in case the damage is caused by one or more causes as stated in the warranty and the warranty period is still in place.

What does Michelin tire warranty cover?

The following are the damages covered in the Michelin tire warranty.

  • Treadwear

For Michelin to cover the tire treadwear damage, the customer should comply with rotation of wheels depending on miles as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer or by tire warranty offered by Michelin and the tire should not have reached its mileage warranty.

  • Materials and workmanship

Michelin will replace or repair the tire damage if there was a manufacturer’s defect during the life of the tire tread or it is not more than six years since the day of purchase whichever comes first.

Exclusions in Michelin Tire Warranty

  • Michelin does not cover tire tread differences of 2/32” or more caused by mechanical irregularities of the vehicle. In such a scenario, the customer will be forced to cater for the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged tire.
  • If the tire damage has been caused by incorrect tire mounting, imbalance of the tire, or improper repair of the tire, the Michelin tire warranty will not cover the cost of repair or replacement.
  • Tire damages caused by vandalism, fire, or tire alteration are not covered under the Michelin tire warranty. In this case, the customer should be careful of where they pack their vehicle to prevent it from being vandalized or where to repair their tires leading to tire alteration.
  •  Michelin also does not cover road hazards like impact damages or punctures. In case the damage occurs, the customer will have to pay for the tire repair or replacement.

Benefits

The Michelin tire warranty has the following benefits to the customers.

Roadside Assistance

Michelin tire warranty offers its customers roadside assistance in case of tire damage which includes free towing up to 150 miles, fluid delivery, battery jump-start, or change out of flat tire. This gives customers peace of mind knowing that the warranty they have can help them cover such unexpected costs.

60-Day Satisfaction Guarantee

The customer is given a 60-day return period from the day of purchase for the tire in case they are satisfied with the quality or performance. The customer returns the tire and the sales receipt to the location of their purchase. This greatly benefits the customers as the customer might at times buy a tire and later find out it is of poor quality or it is performing according to their expectations and the cost has already been incurred.

Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty

The customers enjoy the repair and replacement of tires if the damages caused to the tire are due to the manufacturer’s defect. Manufacturers’ defects are defects that customers have no control over and are due to some challenges during the manufacture of the tire. The defects might lead to a flat tire, tears in the tire, or uneven pressure in the tire.

Treadwear Warranty

Michelin tire warranty covers even wear and tear of a tire as long as it is within the mileage warranty. In this case, the customer and Michelin will cost-share the cost of repair or replacement of the tire as advised by the accredited Michelin service provider.

Free towing service

Michelin provides its customers towing service for free of up to a maximum of 150 miles to the nearest approved Michelin tire service center. Hence, the customer whose vehicle has stalled is assured of Michelin assistance for free to the nearest approved service center.

Conclusion

A customer with a Michelin tire warranty is provided with a customer manual copy that the customer must read and understand. All the terms and conditions set in the warranty are in the manual. This helps to reduce the conflicts that might arise when tire damage occurs and the customer is aware of what is covered in the warranty and what is excluded. Also, the customer has to be informed to register their tires for the warranty to be recognized by Michelin.
