PayPal reported 75 million in transactions, and about half of that in revenue. Let’s learn here ‘Can I use my cash app card in Mexico?’.

So, they are closing in on people using the app, but in revenue, they are way ahead.

Where can you use Cash App?

This all sounds pretty perfect. But does it have flaws? Yes, absolutely. As for now, you can only use it in the United States and the United Kingdom (therefore, not in México). And you can’t transfer money from the United States to the United Kingdom using the app.

What does this mean? If I live in the United States, and you want to pay a merchant in the United Kingdom, it will not be possible. Also, if you live in the United States, and you want to transfer money to your friend in México, you won’t be able to.

A Reddit user, asked three years ago: Hi, I am going to Mexico next week for a couple of days and want to avoid international fees from my bank. Can you use the Cash App card abroad, in places that accept Visa debit cards?

And he got this answer: No, you cannot. From square’s website “Cross-border card payments are unsupported. This means that card transactions attempted outside of the country where you activated your Square account can’t be processed with Square”.

You may think, three years is a long time. Well, things are pretty the same. And probably in the question lies the answer: bank fees. Nobody wants to give free money.

Wallets, out!

Who wants to carry their wallets anymore? Nobody, really. And for many reasons. Space-wise, it is more comfortable to not carry it. Safety-wise, it is safer to not carry it anywhere. Insecurity is a problem everywhere in the world, and all ought to be preoccupied because of it. So, carrying your credit card or debit card around is not an option.

The solution, which may sound obvious, is on the phone. Pay with your phone! Yes, that’s right. Ok, you don’t want your phone to get stolen either. But phones are cheaper than say, all your money in the bank. And, they are more comfortable than your wallet. Can your wallet take pictures? Make calls? Receive messages? No! But now, your phone can pay, just like your wallet.

Back to the essential question: What can you do? Use Cash app. Of course. You can transfer money, buy stuff, buy bitcoins and sell and buy stocks. What else can you want? Apparently, nothing.

The creators

Block Inc. (before they were called Square, Inc. they changed the name just very recently, back in December 2021), is a company based in San Francisco California. And it was founded in 2009 by Jim Mckelvey and the one and only, Jack Dorsey. If you don’ know who Jack Dorsey is, we can tell you: he is the founder of Twitter, one of the most popular and influential social networks out there.

Sure, Facebook is bigger, and Instagram has a younger audience. But Twitter has its coolness. Especially for writers and journalists.

Block has invested big time in Bitcoin as well. They believe this will be the currency of the future, and they want to be standing on the right side of history.

As you can see, Jack is one good entrepreneur, someone who has shaped this world for the better, on many different fronts.

Your options

This means that the Cash app is great if you live in the United Kingdom or the United States. But if you are traveling anywhere else in the world, you are going to have to carry your wallet, or, use Google pay or Apple pay.

These devices are more international and just as good to avoid using your wallet.

For example, Google pay is available already in 42 countries. And it is supported by Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and many more.

On the other hand, Apple pay can be used in 69 countries and is supported by many payment networks, just like Google pay.

And, of course, you have PayPal. Created in 1998, PayPal can be used in more than 200 countries, which, is the world.

Conclusion:

So, if you want to go around the globe without a wallet, you have options. Many. If you live in the countries stated above, you have more options. But with Cash App, you have a reliable and versatile app to transfer money amongst friends, buy things and even invest in bitcoin. Maybe one day, the Cash app will catch up with its competitors.
