Is it Easy to Get to and From the Store?

For most of us, getting to and from a store can be a challenge. If you don’t have a car, public transportation may not offer routes to your local store. And even if you do have a car and live close by, traffic and poor weather conditions can easily turn an easy drive into an arduous one. Keep in mind that many customers will base their decision on how easy it is to get to your store when deciding whether or not they want to purchase products from you. You should plan for convenience and make sure there are multiple methods of transportation available for potential shoppers. Offering curbside pickup at all hours can also help increase convenience for customers (especially those who aren’t comfortable entering your physical location).

There’s also an IKEA app available for iPhone and Android devices, which shows customers store information like sales events. Finally, Ikea’s website has links to FAQs about everything from how much its table legs cost ($8) to how close customers can bring their dogs (all animals must be leashed—for humans as well as pets—and water bowls must stay outside). It also has a MySpace section where visitors can add pictures of themselves shopping there. To learn about upcoming sales, follow IKEA on Facebook.

Is There Parking Available on Site

The good news is that there’s plenty of parking available at both IKEA stores in Arizona.

The bad news?

It’s not free. You can pay for up to an hour of parking (in most cases) with a debit or credit card and avoid paying for more than that by using one of two options: paying for additional time on your phone or paying with coins at one of two cash payment stations.

If you are purchasing furniture from IKEA, be sure to ask about flat-fee delivery options as well—they’re generally cheaper than standard delivery fees, which range from $59-$499 depending on how much you buy.

One thing to keep in mind when visiting IKEA: On weekends, it’s best to get there early! Once they reach capacity, any vehicles arriving late may be directed around back until a spot opens up.

To see if either store near Phoenix has open spots available before going, check out their respective webcams located here and here.

Note that these webcams will only show you information if they’re life (so if it looks like they’re offline or blank on arrival, chances are all spots are filled).

  • A final note: like anywhere else during peak hours, traffic around the area can get pretty backed up. When possible we recommend taking light rail to IKEA so you don’t have to deal with heavy car traffic.

Can You Take Buses or Trains to the Location Instead of Driving There

One of the many benefits of shopping at an IKEA is that you can usually get there without driving your car.

The location in Tempe, Arizona has a commuter train stop within walking distance and busses that run in and out of nearby Phoenix. This not only cuts down on gas and wear-and-tear on your vehicle, but it also helps reduce congestion around big shopping centers.

If you’re in an area with public transportation or near any major highways, it’s worth considering going carless for all or part of your trip.

Not only does it make going grocery shopping easier, but it can actually save you money as well.

And if you drive and park far away from where you shop—like at one of those giant parking lots—you might be surprised how much more walking (and sweating) it takes.

Next time try leaving your keys in the car while you dash into a store instead of making two trips back and forth (or going through Whole Foods). You might find yourself losing weight just by not having to walk half a mile after buying some cans of soup.

Are There Any Surprises Upon Arriving at the Location – Like Noisy Neighbors, Crime, Bad Weather, etc?

  • The only surprise I experienced when arriving at my new home was just how enormous it was.
  • I thought that one store in each city would be sufficient to accommodate all customers, but I quickly found out that was not so.
  • The size of the Tempe location was such a surprise because it seemed much bigger than necessary and far too large for our small city.
  • In fact, there are even plans to expand and build an additional parking lot nearby.
  • As nice as that sounds, especially after having to wait long periods of time during peak times of day at previous locations due to limited space, it still seems like too much space here.

Of course, one could argue that as more business grows from online shopping, there will be no end to customers needing furniture!
