Kohls Price adjustment policy is a form of guarantee or rules in place offered by the retail stores to its customers and promises them to offer a product price adjustment if the customer requests for one and the product is eligible. These offer customers an assurance that the store cares for them and are willing to serve them.  

Kohl’s stores have a price adjustment policy set in place that they use to apply whenever they have to adjust a purchase price of a product. The policy outlines conditions that necessitate the price adjustments, terms governing the price adjustment, the exclusions of price adjustments, etc. Kohl applies price adjustment on a product already purchased by a customer by refunding the customer some portion of the original hence the customer ends up saving. 

For a customer in need of price adjustment, they have to visit Kohl’s store with the original receipt of the product or get in touch with Kohl if the product was purchased online for Kohl store to give them instructions of how the price adjustment process will be conducted and the required documentation. 

Eligibility for Kohl’s price adjustment policy 

In Kohl’s price adjustment policy, there are set guidelines of what products are eligible for price adjustments. Below find some of the eligibility criteria set out by Kohl.  

  • A customer who has bought an item at a promotion price or its original price can request for price adjustment. 
  • Kohl’s only adjusts prices of identical products meaning if the product the customer is requesting for price adjustment is not of the same size and quality, price adjustment cannot be applied. 
  • If a customer has purchased a product in Kohl and when they want the product delivered or they have gone to pick the product from the Kohl store and found out the product is out of stock, Kohl returns the purchase price to the customer. 
  • The item the customer is claiming a price adjustment is not Kohl’s Cares merchandise. All Kohl’s Cares merchandise products are not eligible for price adjustments.  
  • If the product to apply price adjustment was not part of or is not in the current Buy One Get One promotion. If the product was part of the Buy One Get One promotion, Kohl cannot apply a price adjustment to the product.
  • The item is not part of the product list excluded in Kohl rewards. Kohl has set up a list of products and brands that are excluded from their reward program. They include the following  
    • Gift cards
    • Kohl’s Cares merchandise 
    • Sephora at Kohl’s merchandise
    • Marketplace Merchandise
    • Premium Athletic brands 
    • Emerging Brands 
    • Premium Electronics brands 
    • Etc. 
  •  The product is not part of the clearance sale because, during the clearance sale, the product’s original purchase price has already been cut to ensure the available stock is sold out at the end of the sale. 
  • If the product price the customer paid was reduced within two weeks of the customer purchase date the customer is eligible for the price adjustments.  
  • The customer requesting a price adjustment must present an original product sales receipt from Kohl. This provides proof of purchase to Kohl for them to be able to apply price adjustment. 
  • During Thanksgiving, the week after, and certain promotional events, the purchases made previously by the customers are not eligible for Kohl’s price adjustment. This is because, during these periods, the retail store reduces their purchase prices to reward their loyal customers and attract more customers. 
  • Only valid promotion codes are used during product price adjustments at Kohl stores
  • Kohl applies price adjustments for products purchased by both cash and credit this ensures the customer has a choice on the method of payment they prefer to use to make purchases. 

Conclusion 

Customers must understand the Price Adjustment policy offered by Kohl for them to be able to request one and avoid any conflict that might arise. Price adjustments are applied even to products already used as long the product is eligible. Retail stores that apply price adjustments to the products purchased by customers maintain their loyal customers. It’s a strategy that most stores in the US are embracing and a customer who is price sensitive has a chance to save money on the products purchased.
