Does Walmart Price Match Target?

Walmart offers a price match for products purchased on www.walmart.com with those items on offer on www.target.com but does not price match in-store products from Walmart with in-store products from Target or www.target.com. The price match policy has been set by Walmart and must be followed by Walmart and the customer requesting a price match. The customer must ensure the products meet all the price match requirements set by Walmart for their products to be price matched.

Overview of Walmart price match policy

Process of price matching Walmart with Target

Before the customer requests Walmart to price match the Target price, they must ensure the product meets the price match policies set by Walmart and the product was bought from www.walmart.com and the price to be matched is in www.target.com. Also, the product must be in stock at both www.walmart.com and www.target.com.

The customer then contacts Walmart Customer Care with the request at https://www.walmart.com/help to verify the product before a customer is allowed to place their order with Walmart. If the product meets the requirements, it will price match the item price with that offered at Target.

Limitations

The following are limitations that apply when customers want to price match items bought online on www.walmart.com with those from www.target.com.

  • The item the customer is requesting for a price match must be in stock both in www.walmart.com and www.target.com at the time the customer is requesting a price match else it will not honor the customers’ price match request. Hence the customer before requesting a price match needs to confirm the availability of the stock in both stores.
  • The product to be price matched must be identical in terms of color, size, brand, quantity, or model both in www.walmart.com and www.target.com. If the product description varies even on one specification, Walmart cannot honor the price match request.
  • It has set a limit on the number of products per customer they can price match from Target to one item per customer per day. Hence a customer cannot request it to price match more than one item in a day with Target. If the customer has more than one item, the customer will have to bring the other item another day for Walmart to offer a price match. Also, Walmart restricts offering rain-checks for items that are out of stock either at www.walmart.com or www.target.com.

Reasons Walmart will not price matched Target

It does not price match products from Target that have price errors or are damaged. For such products, a customer’s request for a price match will be denied by Walmart. Also, for orders sent to Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico, it does not offer a price match for Target.

Products whose prices have been decreased in www.target.com after a customer had already purchased the product from Walmart cannot be price matched as Walmart will have to confirm with Target the original product price at the time the customer purchased the product. Also, if a customer requests a price match for products on offer sold at a given percentage off the purchase price in Target cannot be price matched by Walmart.

Also, Walmart cannot price match products sold on auction prices, clearance sales products, products with rebates, or coupons at www.target.com since the products are being sold below their purchase prices to attract more customers to the store. Also, the products sold at www.target.com with minimum quantity purchase cannot be price matched by Walmart.

A customer is not allowed to request Walmart for a product price match with Target for products that a customer has already used like this are not eligible or for Target in-store product prices as Walmart only price matches, www.target.com or products sold during Black Friday as these products are on offer during this to increase their sales.

Conclusion

Walmart offering its customers a price match to Target enables customers to maintain their loyalty with Walmart and for it to not lose the customer to Target. Price match is one of the ways that a retail store keeps its customers and provides assurance to them to provide whatever help they might need from them as it strives to offer them quality and affordable products.
