And you get more every year. And, for 55 years, their stock has gone up 16% up. So, yes, it is a good place to work at. And has been for the past decades. 

Some of their stores even have sushi bars, valet parking, cafés, pharmacies, liquor store. And many more products and services.

Since 2016, Publix started a delivery service in Florida specifically, where they deliver the food to you, or you choose to pick it up, whichever you decide. But you choose your food, they hand-pick it for you, and deliver it right to your door, or have it ready at the store for you to pick it up. It costs about 99 dollars a year. 

And doesn’t include all fees and tips. However, if the order is over 35 dollars, the delivery is free. And, there is a two-week free trial, so you can see if it works. But we must remind you, to get that free trial, you need to do a full registration, which means you have to give your credit card number. If, after two weeks you don’t like the service and forget to cancel your subscription, you will get charged. So, you have to remember to cancel it in case you don’t want it. 

You can get your groceries in about an hour. You can save that time doing other things you like. 

Now, we must say, if you don’t want the food delivered to your door, and you just want pickup service, there are no fees and you need the membership either. So, it is a pretty cool service. 

Prices and fees

For the Publix delivery service, fees start at 3.99 dollars for same-day orders over 35 dollars. Tipping is optional, however, highly recommended. Now, you can get a membership of 99 dollars a year, and get no fees for orders of over 35 dollars.

How does Publix pickup work?

Through their app or website, you have to select the option of pickup, and then the location you want to make that pick up. Then select your food and when you arrive at your nearest Publix, let them know through the Instacart app. And then you can either pick it up at a designated area or an employee will bring the food to you. 

As you can see, it is very simple. And a visionary service. They didn’t start because of COVID or anything. Hence their business model was more than ready for when the pandemic arrived.

Their mission

Its mission is to be the greatest supermarket in the world. Yes, they are far from achieving this, but from the looks of it, where they are installed, they are the best. Their motto is: where shopping is a pleasure. And it sure is. 

GreenWise market

In response to the Whole Foods supermarket competition that arrived, and with it, this culture of eating healthier, Publix started a chain of stores called: GreenWise market. Where they do just that. Foods or products that have the GreenWise brand, have no added dyes, flavors, hormones, antibiotics. In other words, are organic. 

First, they wanted to make hybrid stores, as in, Publix stores that included a GreenWise market inside. But, since 2017, they said they would do stand-alone stores of GreenWise. 

As you can see, Publix is doing a lot of things right. For you, and their employees. 

The Pandemic

We are struggling with this pandemic. Well, not all of us, but most of us. And, it was in Publix’s best interest to help. They have administered over 300,000 shots of the COVID vaccine in their facilities. Although some controversies have arrived, the fact remains that they have helped deliver relief in these times of need. 

Conclusion 

Publix can deliver your food to your door, for a reasonable price, or, for nothing, can pick your food for you. They say on their webpage, that sometimes when asking for the pickup service, a fee of 1.99 dollars may be required. Sometimes. If you are not a member. Still, it is also a reasonable price. That way all you have to do is pick your food on the app, and then pick it up at the store. Beautiful. Or, for a little more money, have it delivered right out of your door. You choose which is best for you.
