The company’s headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan. In 1969 it was extended to the United States of America in the name of Yokohama Tire Corporation. What is warranted?

Tire and temporary spares of the Passenger vehicles and light trucks are replaceable under the warranty policy of the Yokohama Rubber Company Limited. Unserviceable tires can be replaced by the company. 

Warranty eligibility:

Any tire, temporary spares of light vehicle truck, or passenger vehicles bearing the name of Yokohama company and serial identification number are eligible for replacement under the adjustment policy of the company. Unserviceable tires that have worn out due to rough usage or mistreatment are not included under the warranty coverage policy. 

There are 2 conditions for a time period of warranty service,

  1. For 60 months from the date of purchase.
  2. For 72 months from the date of manufacture. (whichever comes first)

What is not warranted?

Unserviceable tires that wear out due to the following reasons are not eligible for replacement under the warranty policy of company.

  • Accident, corrosion, or any damages caused by nature.
  • Improper application of tire size or type.
  • Improper repair or maintenance issues.
  • Damage caused by obstacles like rocks or punctures, bruises, abrasions, and Road Hazard injuries.
  • Improper mounting and dismounting of wheels or other parts and damage caused due to the same.

Some additional exclusion from warranty service:

  • Tires that are sold outside the USA are not eligible for replacement by the company.
  • And Tires fitted in the vehicles that are registered outside the USA are excluded from the warranty service of the company.
  • Tires used on vehicles in racing or for special applications are not eligible for replacement.
  • Some tires are labeled as NA(non-adjustable) by the company at the time of purchase are excluded from the warranty policy of the company.
  • Tires that are altered by buffing or notching can not be replaced.
  • If any materials are added to tires like fillers, balancing materials, after leaving the Yokohama company then they are not eligible for replacement.

Adjustment Policy

Temporary Spare Tires:

In the condition, when the Yokohama temporary spare tires installed in the highway vehicle are worn less than 0.8mm or 1/32″, then it will be replaced by the company with a new Yokohama temporary spare tire without any charge of mounting or balancing. The warranty service is free of cost in this condition.

But if the temporary spare tire is worn more than 0.8mm or 1/32″ and less than 1.6mm or 2/32″, the customer will be charged 50% of the current rate of the tire. The balancing and mounting services are also chargeable by the Yokohama Rubber Company Limited.

Passenger and Light truck tires:

In a condition when the original tire is worn 1.6mm or 2/32″, or less than it, and is still in the warranty period, the tire will be replaced by the company with a new Yokohama tire free of cost. The customer is not charged for basic services but has to pay for additional services like rotation or alignment of the wheels. If the tire has worn down more than the specified condition and is still in the warranty period the customer must pay for the replacement of the tire. The price will be determined by the dealer with respect to the damage caused.

Passenger tires on Light trucks:

All the original Yokohama passenger tires mounted on light trucks, minivans or any vehicle of a similar design are eligible for replacement under the company’s warranty policy. The original passenger tires are replaced with a Yokohama tire equal or greater in load or speed.

Yokohama warranty for steel-belted passenger cars and light truck tires:

Yokohama tires purchased as replacement tires in the USA are eligible for a warranty of 60 months or 5 years from the date of purchase. Similar tires installed on any commercial vehicles are not warranted for treadwear. 

Adjustment Policy

If the originally installed tires, wear down within 5 years (60 months) of mounting it on any passenger vehicle, the Yokohama Rubber Company limited is bound to replace the tire with a new Yokohama steel-belted radial tire. 

Warranty eligibility:

The steel-belted radial tires must be on the vehicle originally installed and bear the name of the Yokohama Rubber Company limited and the serial number. Following is the list of the products and their mileage warranty.
