Companies that have discontinued drinks during and after the Covid-19 pandemic

The global economy was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Numerous businesses collapsed while others restructured. Some of the food and beverages businesses were also affected. Many companies shifted their focus to produce. The Monster Energy drinks production may have led to a pause in the production of drinks such as the popular ginger brew however, other companies have been forced to discontinue production of specific flavors entirely.

An example of a company that discontinued production of its energy drinks is The Coca-Cola Company. In 2021 as the world was opening up following the pandemic, Coca-Cola made the decision to discontinue its drinks in North America. This move was to enable the company to focus on its fast-moving beverages as consumers pick up more of its traditional sodas and flavored sparkling waters as they come out of the pandemic.

Discontinued Monster Energy Drinks

There are various factors that may lead to the discontinuation of drinks production besides the global pandemic. Factors such as law-suits related to intellectual property as well as substandard production may lead to permanent withdrawal of drinks from the market.

There are a few flavours of Monster energy drinks that have been discontinued. These include the following:

• Espresso Monster Salted Caramel Triple Shot, 250ml

• Espresso Monster Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot, 250ml

• Lewis Hamilton Monster Energy, 500ml

• Ripper Juiced Monster Energy + Juice, 500ml

Despite the above monster energy flavours gaining popularity among energy drink lovers, the production company had to discontinue them due to the superfluous use propylene glycol in their production. Propylene Glycol is a synthetic food additive that is frequently used by the chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries as an antifreeze. The liquid substance has been considered harmful to the health of human beings. Research has shown that some of its side effects include interference with the nervous system thus causing depression in consumers. In this regard, elevated levels of propylene glycol in the Monster Energy drinks have forced producers to withdraw all batches of the same with best before dates up to the 19th of October 2022.

Discontinuation means permanent withdrawal from the market through lack of production while a pause merely implies a hiatus. In light of the above, it is evident that Monster Mule discontinued will be back on our shelves in due course. It is only a matter of time!
