Getting Your Team

Getting your team the most points is the goal of the game. Open the Pictionary Air app on your tablet or smartphone.Follow the onscreen instructions. Hit play then figures out the settings for your game. Depending on the player’s age, the App allows them to change the game’s difficulty by modifying the number of rounds and the timer. To relive some of the game’s funniest moments, the game can also be recorded using the app. Additionally, there is a selfie mode that gives the user unlimited time and round access to sketch. It comes with one-hundred and twelve clue cards, one double-A battery, and a pen.

Turn on the pen so that the tip goes red. Make two teams with an even number of players. Pick a team to go first. Then turn alternately. On your team’s turn, you have to pick one player to be the person who draws. This person is called the Picturist. Set the box of cards near the picturist and give them the pen. The picturist has to pick one card and secretly look at the words. There will be five clues on each card that the picturist is trying to get their team to guess by drawing clues in the air. To draw, one person holds the smart device with the camera pointing at the picturist so that the screen is hidden from the picturist.  If you use the option to cast the image to a TV, then the picturist should be presented by looking at it. When the picturist is ready, tap the start timer and the round begins.

The picturist points the colored end of the pen towards the camera and presses and holds down the button on the pen so that the tip turns green. Now, whenever the picturist moves the tip of the pen, it will draw on the screen. Once done, release the button which will cause the pen to turn red again. You can press and release the button to draw as many times as you like.

Rules of Pictionary

Before you begin drawing, you are allowed to draw a box in the air to get an idea about the size of the canvas. These five clues can be drawn in any order. The bottom clue on the card is harder and worth two points while the first four clues are each worth one point. The player gets only one card per turn and cannot take another card even if all the five clues have been guessed. The cards are double-sided but you may only play with the side you drew. The other side is for when the deck is finished so that you can play again with more options. When a  club is guessed by one of your teammates, announce it.

The person holding the device hits the score button accordingly. If the picturist wants to restart the sketch, they say clear. Then the device holder clears the image by pressing the button. The picturist is allowed to interact with their sketch. But these are not charades so they may only interact with what they have drawn and nothing else. The picturists are not allowed to use letters or symbols. The usage of symbols is permitted. Ears cannot be used for sound’s like or dashes to show how long the word isis but can show how many syllables it has. Sign language and talking are not allowed. Once the time runs out, then the picturist stops and returns the card to the back of the deck. Then the next team draws a card from the front and begins. After the final round of the play, the team with the highest score wins.

This game is loved by people.  The fun aspect of the original game is preserved and at the same time, drawing in air ups the chance that silly and zany things will happen. For the younger players, it will help to enhance their drawing skills. What would we not give to go back to childhood and have the fun of that scale? Well, all you have to give is some money to buy Pictionary Air so that you can have your childhood fun back.
