What Kinds Of Pets Are Accepted On Copa Airlines?

Copa Airlines allows you to travel with your dogs and cats in the cabin, subject to specific airline limitations. Service dogs (trained to aid a person with a disability) are allowed on all routes. If travelling to or from Brazil, Colombia, or Mexico, emotional support dogs (that provide emotional comfort and well-being by their presence) are allowed on board in accordance with local rules. Passengers can request pets in cabin service or Copa Pets when going to other areas.

Rabbits aren’t permitted to be transported by Copa Airlines as they pose a threat to human health and the safety of passengers, and other pets.

Traveling With Dogs As Service And Emotional Support Animals Terms And Conditions

Copa Airlines permits dogs as service and emotional support animals on board at no additional cost for passengers with disabilities or special needs.

Copa airlines also provides a seat with more room to a passenger travelling with a pet. 

If not, travelers can purchase an additional seat to provide more floor space for the pet.

Pets cannot be seated in the seats with passengers.

Furthermore, if a dog has a poor odour, bad behaviour, or does not conform with the requisite papers of country of origin and destination, it may be denied transit on board. If the pet does not match above requirements, it may be transported using the Copa Pets service. 

Transporting Pets As Carry-on Baggage 

Passengers are allowed to bring their pets as carry-on bags in the Main Cabin on every aircraft, depending on their breed, size, age, and destination requirements. Only one pet is allowed per passenger, and one pet per container.

During the flight, the pet must remain within the pet container.

Children under 11 years age are not allowed to travel with their pets. The facility is limited to accepting three pets per flight.

Pets are not allowed to travel in Business Class on Copa Airlines.

If a passenger’s itinerary contains a connection on a carrier other than Copa Airlines, dogs are not permitted on board. 

Pets Eligibility To Travel In The Main Cabin 

The pet’s total weight, including its container, must not exceed 20 pounds.

The pet should be at least eight weeks old.

There is a limit of one pet per container and one pet per traveler.

Pets must not be obnoxious or smelly, and they must not demand special attention during flight.

If passenger’s pet weighs more than 20 pounds, he or she must arrange transportation through Copa Mascotas, a Copa Airlines Cargo product that provides airport-to-airport delivery for pets that aren’t permitted to travel in the Main Cabin. 

Pet Documentation

Passengers are responsible for obtaining all necessary documentation to ensure pet’s leave and entry into the cities of departure and destination. Also, if necessary, the documentation required for transit through a given country. This includes any supplementary or unusual documentation necessary by laws and regulations in the countries of origin, transit, and destination. Do contact the sanitary authorities of each country to find out what standards your pet must meet.

On international flights, the customer must present a health certificate for their pet from the proper authority, as well as other paperwork required to enter the next location.

Owners must present proof of current immunization and health certificate for domestic flights inside Panama.

The pet must be vaccinated against rabies. 

Pet Transportation Fees on Copa Airlines

Pets are allowed in the cabin on Copa Airlines, although there is a cost.

International flights with pets in the cabin cost $147-$166, plus sales tax. Pets may be transported on foreign flights with Copa Airlines from Monday to Friday.

Domestic flights in Panama cost between $29 and $33 including sales tax. Pets are allowed to travel with their owners on a daily basis within the United States as long as the journey has no foreign connections.
