USPS Marketing Mail

Marketing Mail, formerly known as Standard Mail, is a service provided by the United States Postal Service. USPS Marketing Mail is mail that does not have to be sent as First-Class Mail® or Periodicals.  Lower charitable costs for USPS Marketing Mail are possible with special authorization. The Postal Service advises that content in USPS Marketing Mail, both regular and nonprofit, letter-size and flat-size pieces, be limited to paper-based/printed matter material to optimize both processing and dissemination of products and transactions flowing via the mail stream.

USPS Marketing Mail is used by mailers to send:

Characteristics of USPS Marketing Mail are :

  • Extra Services such as Electronic USPS Tracking® Bulk Insurance can be utilized with:
  •  The shipments (only on Nonprofit USPS Marketing Mail machinable and irregular parcels)
  • Unless an ancillary service endorsement is requested, lt is not forwarded or returned.
  • Additional fees or postage may be charged for forwarding and returning services.

Qualifications :

  • All marketing mail pricing from the USPS is bulk rates that need a Business Mail Permit.
  • Minimum Weight: 1 oz. 
  • Weight limit: less than 16 ounces
  • 200 pieces or 50 pounds of mail is the minimum quantity.
  • For USPS Marketing Mail, there is no single-piece postage.
  • Letters, Flats/Large Envelopes, and Parcels are all priced separately under USPS Marketing Mail.
  • There is no distinct USPS Marketing Mail postcard charge, unlike First-Class Mail (USPS Marketing Mail postcards are mailed as letters or flats depending on size).

USPS Market mails can also be customized and the Basic Requirements are:

Mailing non rectangular or irregular-shaped Regular USPS Marketing Mail and Nonprofit USPS Marketing Mail pieces weighing 3.3 ounces or less that meet the physical characteristics and dimensional requirements are:

  • The parts must be made of material that is free of sharp edges, protrusions, and other factors that might endanger or injure USPS staff handling them.
  • The components must not be smaller than the letter-size mail minimum size in 1.0.
  •  The following are the measurements for length and height:
  • a.The piece’s longest dimension is its length.
  • b. The longest dimension perpendicular to the length is the height.
  • Maximum weight of 3.3 ounces is allowed.
  • Die cuts, holes, and voids may be included in the pieces, which can be of any form.
  • Pieces must be flexible enough to fit into a 15-inch-deep, 4-7/8-inch-wide, and 5-7/8-inch-high postal receptacle.
  • It is encouraged, but not essential, that the design be approved by the district’s commercial mail entry manager.

Eligibility criteria  All CMM(Customized Market mail) must have:

  • Meet the basic content and eligibility standards for USPS Marketing Mail mentioned above.
  • Be a part of at least 200 addressed components in a mailing. Unless an approved postal payment mechanism is used, all components must be equal in size, shape, and weight.
  • To write a complete delivery address, use the following addressing forms:
  1. The address, postage (permit imprint, postage stamp, or meter stamp), postmarks, and postal endorsements all require a clean area on every piece of mail.
  2.  The delivery address defines where a mailpiece will be delivered by the USPS.
  3. Ancillary endorsements are not allowed.

    Components of an Address needed

All mail that does not have a simplified address must have a delivery address that includes at least the parts listed below,  in order from the top line:

  1. Name or additional identifying information for the intended recipient.
  2. If the mailpiece is addressed to a commercial mail receiving agency address, the private mailbox designator and number are applied.
  3. The address and telephone number. (If relevant, provide the apartment number or Post Office box number, together with the general delivery, rural route, or highway contract route classification and box number.)
  4. Governments on a local and state level (or state abbreviation). The city is any acceptable mailing name for the 5-digit ZIP Code servicing the intended addressee, according to the USPS City State Product.
  5. Governments at the state and local levels (or state abbreviation). According to the USPS City State Product, the city is any legitimate mailing name for the 5-digit ZIP Code servicing the intended addressee.
  6. Be marked, sorted, and document specific.

Additional Services

  • CMM does not qualify for any further services.

Tracking Your Package:

You can track your package on the USPS’s official website. You may access the current status of a mailpiece as well as additional tracking information by entering the tracking number associated with it into the USPS Tracking website. Delivery and/or attempted delivery information, such as the item’s delivery date and time, as well as the item’s delivery location, may be included in the data. The use of USPS tracking does not ensure or expedite delivery. There is no additional payment for the tracking system for things that come with it by default.
