Wella is a German word that in the English language means waves. It is an American- German company. The company manufacturers a wide range of products for heath hygiene and cleaning. These products include hair color, perming agents, liquid soaps for hairs health hygiene, bleaching agents, and many more. It also makes both vegan and non-vegan products as per the requirements of its customers. It is one of the oldest companies in America as well as Germany. It was founded in the year 1880. Earlier the company was known to produce the strongest bleaching agents and personal hygiene products. At present, the headquarters of the company is in Geneva, Switzerland. WHAT IS MEANT BY CRUELTY-FREE?

Cruelty-free is a widely used term, which means that a particular product is not tested or used on any animal. At present, most countries have restricted this process of product testing. Although, it is a highly practiced process in the cosmetic manufacturing industry. Most of the time, it is mentioned on the packaging of that product, whether it is cruelty-free or not. They also keep an eye on all the artificial or natural ingredients used in manufacturing that product. If the ingredients used in making that product are tested on animals, then that product is not cruelty-free. 

The animals like rabbits, birds, monkeys, cats, and dogs are taken in this process. Although this process is banned in many countries and declared illegal, some companies follow these practices of testing their products on animals. It is necessary to manufacture and purchase cruelty-free products both by the consumer and the producer. It is because when the products are tested on the sensitive skin of animals, it causes harmful effects. Every year a large number of rats and rabbits are taken to laboratories to test hair growth serums and other cosmetics. Testing these products on animals causes skin and eye infection, irritation, and even death of many animals.

Wella has its branches in many different countries around the globe. Products like shampoos, hair serums, liquid soaps, bleaching gels and agents, and many more have international consumers and buyers. There are some countries like China, Russia, and many more that have legalized testing products on animals. However, countries like Australia, Colombia, India, Israel, and many more have passed some laws to minimize this practice. 

The company imports and exports the products or cosmetics while keeping these laws in mind. For example, some countries do not accept products that are not tested on animals. It means that they only accept products that are tested on animals by professionals in the laboratories. 

However, some countries have banned the sale of products that are not cruelty-free. That is why the company, Wella is known to be partially cruelty-free. It means that the company tests its products on animals when required by the law. For example, if any country does allow products that are not tested on animals, the company then tests it on rabbits or rats. The company is not 100% cruelty-free. 

The best example of such a country is China. In mainland China, no cosmetic products, personal hygiene products, shampoos, and many more are not excepted by any seller without testing them on animals. Moreover, countries like India do not allow products that are tested on animals. The products like shampoo, hair serums as well as bleaching agents are tested on animals in the laboratories when it is required by the law of any other country or place.

The products also make vegan products. For example, shampoo and hair care serums, hair growth serums are made with keratin treatment facilities. It includes rice, medicinal plants, and herbs. Products made with this process are the vegan products manufactured by Wella. Moreover, all the bleaching agents manufactured by the company do not have any ingredients extracted from animals. It is completely made with chemicals and it hardly has any natural or animal extract in the bleaching agent. The company makes vegan shampoos and other hygiene products when needed by consumers.

Although, these tests are done only to satisfy the countries that do not accept cruelty-free cosmetics, creams, serums, or products. Hence, Wella is neither a vegan company nor cruelty-free.
