Target price match policy

Target has set up a price match policy with guidelines and regulations that governs them when price matching products from other retailers.

The following is what is contained in the policy.

  • The price match applies to products available in Target.com, select competitors, Target stores, or competitors’ advertisements. The customer needs to be aware of all the competitors that Target can price match and must make sure the product is in stock.
  • Price match is to be requested either during the purchase or within 14 days of purchase. The 14 days windows are for products that the customer has already purchased in Target or Target.com.
  • The customer must have proof of the product to be price matched either as an original receipt if bought at Target or advertisement from Target or competitors. If the customer has no proof, Target cannot apply a price match to the product.

  • Target is at liberty to decide how much they can price match a product. They can either make the price equal to the competitors or a bit low or high. The customer must decide if they are comfortable with what Target is offering them or they will purchase the product from the competitor.
  • Price match in Target stores is done on any store while that for Target.com purchases the customer must contact target.com. The customer must make sure they follow the instructions outlined by Target of where, how, and where the price match can be done.
  • The price to be matched must be valid at the time the customer is requesting a price match subject to the availability of the product and verifications done by Target. If the price validity has expired, Target will not price match that product.
  • The product to be price matched must be available in stock at Target or competitors stores and identical in size, brand, color, quantity, and model number. If the product is not in stock or is not identified based on what has been outlined, Target reserves the right not to price match.
