IKEA’s secret sales and how to shop them successfully

  • When to go

While IKEA has a clear online schedule of when their major sales run, they do have other types of sales that are harder to catch.

  • The best time to visit IKEA is during one of their Friends & Family Days.
  • These special promotions usually run around February and August, so keep an eye out for them on IKEA’s website in advance.
  • They might offer up to 25% off on certain items or sometimes even more than 30%.
  • If you’re lucky enough to live near an IKEA, these discounts might be in-store only, but there is still plenty of savings to be had either way.
  • During one of these sales expect massive crowds!
  • What to bring

a bag, a notebook and pen/pencil, a friend. The store will provide you with a list of items you need to bring into your home for assembly, as well as for instructions for putting them together. If it is one large item, like a bed frame or kitchen table, then it will be easy enough to find and transport on your own.

If it is smaller pieces that need to be arranged in some sort of order (i.e., picture frames), you may want to bring someone who can assist you with that portion of the assembly.

  • IKEA has clear instructions for both options on its website.
  • What you can get
  • You can get a deal on anything at IKEA, from a couch to a kitchen table.
  • The secret?
  • First, you have to be flexible about when you buy something, and second, you need to know where to look for deals.
  • You might not even find a coupon in your mailbox, but don’t forget about browsing your local newspaper for special coupons that could knock hundreds of dollars off an IKEA purchase.
  • Not only will cash-strapped customers benefit from reading up on IKEA deals and how they work, but savvy shoppers will also find money-saving opportunities.
  • From free delivery deals to huge furniture discounts, there is money everywhere at Ikea if you know what and where to look!

Check out all of their crazy sales, along with their buying tips as well.

  • They’re definitely worth checking out – wouldn’t want to pass them up just because we never knew they existed…
  • Everything Sale – Everything is 30% off; However certain items are excluded like: blackout curtains and other bedroom accessories ($4-$30), EKTORP sofas & chairs ($599-$1499), full bedding sets ($49-$109), RAST dressers ($139-$259), selected storage shelves (depending on size) as well as Seater or two-seater set $699/each is excluded.
  • This sale lasts 2 weeks and ends on January 6th.
  • Don’t worry about getting there on time either, the whole store is open for 50 hours straight during these 2 weeks.
  • $100 Trade-In For Appliances – If you’ve had any old electronics sitting around for years now collecting dust then it’s finally time to put those things to good use!
  • That old TV sitting behind your television has some value attached to it, sell it back and get yourself some credit toward your next high dollar purchases!
  • Credit prices range anywhere from $10-$200 depending on the condition and make/model number of each item brought in during trade-in day.

How much is it?

Many IKEA products have at least one secret, lower price. Whether they are intentionally trying to drive you to buy more or they’re just trying to be nice, IKEA has deals that you can only get if you know what they are.

  • There is a secret low price on almost every single product in their store, meaning you could save hundreds on their products each year!
  • Here’s how If you see an item priced somewhere else for less than your local IKEA store charges, simply take out your phone and show them that they are charging too much—you’ll find another price online and it will equal big savings.
  • If they won’t match it (they rarely do), just walk away; there are plenty of other ways to get discount prices from IKEA: special promotions offer (sometimes free delivery) and giveaways (winners receive 25% off) all make it easier to shop for furniture on a budget!

A few random tips:

  • Make sure you always take advantage of manufacturer promotions when buying products like showerheads or mattresses.
  • These rebates usually come with codes specific to certain stores so you may not want to use them if purchasing online.
  • Be wary of extended warranties because most of these never end up being used. Many customers don’t even remember ever buying it in the first place!
  • And finally, check out manufacturer coupons before heading over there – Oeufkids just launched a new $50 off $100 coupon specifically for IKEA purchases which gives great savings on higher-end items!

Review of my experience

  • I would suggest if you are interested in going to Ikeas then wait for a big sale.
  • For example Labor Day, Memorial Day, Presidents Day, and July 4th.

I found that Labor day is great for buying furniture and appliances but not so good for kitchen supplies. For those, you have to wait until about mid-July when everything goes 75 percent off.

The time of year you go will be dependent on what you are looking for. I went there in September of 2019 when they had their Sept/Oct preview sale which has its benefits as well as downfalls because it may be a lot busier or quieter than other months depending on how close it is to Christmas or Easter.

  • Hope this guide helps you to find what you want……
  • Happy Happy Shopping!!!
