Chewy vs. Petco

Pricing and Service providing

When we talk about pricing, we can see that both chewy and Petco are up against each other toe to toe in that field. However, Chewy has a slight upper hand.

Except for some products, their pricing is precisely similar to each other. But if you look deeper into the pricing,

Chewy does offer a variety of products at comparatively affordable rates, such as

Product name. Chewy Petco

Arm & Hammer $14.87. $19.99

clump & seal

Tidy cats are clumping $14.64. $17.44

Purina one dry $23.99 $28.49

Cat food.

Lam’s dry cat food is $21.59. $24.00

The above mentioned are only some examples of the vast and never-ending range of these products. But by providing these products at an affordable and customer-friendly rate, Chewy does get the upper hand in the end sales. They are making their products more reachable to the customers.

No, Petco isn’t that overpriced either. The reason behind Petco’s slightly higher rates

Is the higher quality of their products, limited or no use of preservatives and artificial chemical food.

Suppose you are running on a low budget and need something worth your money. Then Chewy is the right choice for you.

Shipping charges

One of the most common doubts customers have about Chewy and Petco is. Who has better services? And whom should customers trust with their hard-earned precious money?

Well, when we are talking in terms of shipping charges, Chewy charges $4.99 at every delivery, lesser than $49

But at every delivery above $49, it is shipped to your doorstep free of cost.

Likewise, Petco charges $5.99 on deliveries under $35. But any order above $35 is shipped free of cost, but Petco doesn’t ship a specific range of products like live crickets, live fish and live food, etc.

How long do you have to wait for your order?

Petco and Chewy differ considerably in this aspect.

For Chewy, you have to wait 1 – 3 days (claims the website). Also, it never usually takes more than 48 hours to deliver the package. But just in case, the end delivery timings might rarely vary depending on your distance and location from the product dispatching unit.

As you might already know, Chewy is an online-only platform which means they don’t have any physical stores. So they can’t do 3rd party or same-day deliveries.

On the other hand, Petco is at a benefit here. Even if Chewy’s average time is a lot less than Petco’s, Chewy cannot provide the facility of same-day delivery.

Because Petco has stores both offline and online, whereas Chewy does not, it Gives Petco an ace in this competition.

Petco provides the same-day delivery feature but at certain exemptions. For instance, if you live near a Petco store, you can receive your order from a 3rd party delivery system. Cutting down the time and making the delivery possible to be successful the very same day

Petco drive-through

Petco provides a drive-through or pick-up facility as well. In which you can place an order and pick it up from the store whenever you want to.

Unlikely, Chewy doesn’t have any such facilities.

Subscriptions and auto shipping

Both Chewy and Petco allow the customers to get a certain amount of needed pet supplies automatically delivered. At regular intervals of time. Apart from making you a little less worried about your pet food requirements. It also helps you get attractive and impressive deals and discounts on products.

Some of the offers for Petco include

•Up to 35% off on the first order and 5% off on the rest of the orders

•You can select the order every week

Or two weeks, three weeks a month, two months, and anything up to 12 months

Offers given by Chewy are such as

•Upto 30% off on the first order and 5% off on the rest of the orders

•You can select the order every week or two weeks, three weeks a month, two months, and anything up to 8 months

Although you aren’t signing any contract, customers can cancel or change it whenever they want. Therefore, customers are not bound by anything. In addition to this, customers can choose as much quantity as they want and how they want it.

At regular intervals or maybe a few products earlier and a few later, if you run out of dog food earlier than cat food, you can order dog food every week and cat food every month or whenever it suits you the most. There is no stopping the customer.

Where can you get more variety of products?

When it comes to variety, Chewy is the winner. Chewy provides tons of different varieties, whereas Petco is limited to domestic or pet animals like dogs, cats, and birds. Chewy covers products for various farm animals, such as horses and many more, giving chewy a broader customer base.

Chewy has a wide variety of products for cats and dogs, but Petco doesn’t. Because Petco doesn’t include cheap or artificial brands. Chewy has 100s of food brands for cats and dogs, but Petco only has a handful of selective few. That’s because Petco is more focused on its quality than what it can offer its customers.

That doesn’t mean you can’t get excellent or premium quality products at Chewy, but Chewy also includes cheap and inexpensive options. So if you are running on a low budget, then Chewy is what you need.

Consumer service

AT CHEWY

The consumer service is 24/7 available. Super handy to use, and also you can contact them in various ways. They have a toll-free number on their website, an email, and a chat option available.

Also, they take customer satisfaction very seriously. Therefore, they make sure in case of any mishappening, they help you out and resolve the issue as soon as possible.

No unnecessary questions are asked, and they quickly compensate if anything goes wrong. Be it a product replacement or technical error. They are always ready to help you.

AT PETCO

Petco’s customer support is hard to reach. Compared to Chewy, it can be a bit of a hassle to deal with them. Also, it’s not available 24/7, only on certain days at certain times.

Moreover, it’s hard to get a refund and resolve any technical issue with them. There is only one contact number on the official website that also doesn’t work the whole day. They do have emails, but it is nowhere mentioned on the website. And it takes some time for them to reply and help you out if they do.

CONCLUSION

Chewy is a far better option with lower prices, a wider variety of products, and fast delivery with 24/7 operational consumer support. But Petco provides the immediate delivery option, and pick-up or drive-through is an exclusive feature.
