  • Your total years in service will be the only way to determine your retirement benefits.
  • Contributions as thrift saving plans, will not be matched by the government.

Any militant who has some service-related disability then the pension so received by them will be tax-free. A VA disability compensation card will be provided to you.

Eligibility 

  • Both of the following cases should be trueDishonourable discharge was not received by you. 
  • Certain limits are set by congress if your net worth and family yearly income should meet the criteria.
  1. At least one of the following should be true
  • Active duty – before 8 September, 1950 at least, 90 days.

War duty – at least one day should be spent in wartime.

  • Active duty – after 8 September, 1950 at least 24 months.

War duty- at least one day should be spent in wartime.

  • Active duty- after 16 October 1981 and hadn’t served on active duty for 24 months.
  1. At least one of the following case must be satisfied 
  • You have the age of 65 years or more.
  • You got the permanent or total disability 
  • You are living as a patient in the nursing home for long term
  • You are availing of social security disability insurance and supplemental security income.

Is retirement pay enough to live on?
