Christmas Movies Bucket List-Learn More

When thinking of Christmas, imagine beautifully decorated Christmas trees, deliciously baked cookies and sweets, a loud house filled with laughter and joy, rich singing of carols by choirs, intense Christmas shopping, and numerous bookings at restaurants for a delicious Christmas dinner ’tis the season to be jolly indeed. All of which is incomplete without a binge of the best Christmas movies, truly all of these other events in honor of the season are nice, but there is nothing more spectacular than snuggling in a blanket, in your favorite pajamas, on a couch, a cup of hot chocolate drank judiciously while enjoying some all-time best Christmas movies is one thing on your bucket list. This is indeed the best aspect of Christmas for me. Christmas movie nights shared with friends, family, or by one’s self is a part of the season that I always look forward to. It is because of this that I have put down some of my all-time favorite Christmas movies to see during this beautiful season, in no particular order, of course.

1.  Holidate -(2020)

“He’s just a holidate, a date solely for the holidays. No commitment.”-Sloane

Holidate is an American romantic comedy that centers around Sloane and Jackson, played by Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey. In this movie, we see two strangers agree to be each other’s Platonic plus ones all year and then end up falling in love with each other. This movie is very relatable because holidays can be a very nerve-racking time for single folks in the family as everyone keeps asking why you are still single and when you plan to start dating again. Some family members,, especially aunts go as far as setting up blind dates for you. And so to avoid this Sloane and Jackson decided to play pretend for a year, but like they always say we tend to find love when we’re not even looking. This is a must-watch movie.

2. The Princess Switch -(2018)

“I want to know how it feels to be a normal girl, I would like to switch places with you, I’ll become you, and you will become me”-Lady Margaret Delacourt.

This is an American Christmas romantic comedy starring Vanessa Hudgens, Nick Sagar, and Sarah Stewart among other casts. This movie tells the story of a switch between a duchess and an ordinary baker from Chicago who looks exactly like her, the intriguing part of this movie is that they each fall in love with each other’s beaus. The setting, song choices, and theme of the movie are amongst a few things why this movie should be on your bucket list this holiday.

3. Home alone-(1990)

“This is my house, I have to defend it” -Kevin McCallister

This is an American Christmas comedy starring an eight-year-old Kelvin McCallister who is accidentally left behind after his family takes off to Paris for Christmas. At first, he is overjoyed to be left alone at home, but when thieves try to break into the house, he tries to put up a fight and defend his home. This movie will make you laugh, and cry, and leave you in awe at the imagination of an eight-year-old trying to protect his home.

4. How the Grinch stole Christmas-(2000)

“No one should be alone on Christmas” -Cindy Lou Who

This movie illustrates how Christmas is all about showing love to all. It is an adaptation of the children’s tale by Dr. Seuss. It is centered around a Grinch who lives in solitude outside Whoville, he hates the inhabitants of the town and hates Christmas too. But he is reformed by a six-year-old girl Cindy Lou Who, who believes in the spirit of Christmas. This movie is recommended for family viewing because it helps every one, especially children to understand the importance of love and sharing most, especially during the festive seasons.

5. Jingle Jangle a Christmas Journey-(2020)

“Just because you fell, don’t mean you can’t pick yourself up again” -Ms. Johnston.

When a toy maker Jeronicus Jangle is betrayed by his assistant who stole all his ideas and work. He loses the will to create new toys.  Until years later, when his kind and curious granddaughter Journey Jangle comes into his life. This is an American musical fantasy tale that educates us all to never give up on our dreams because we failed earlier. It is a beautiful Christmas movie that is a must-see.

6. The Santa Claus-(1994)

“Charlie stay away from those reindeer, they look like they have got a key lime disease” -Scott

Who would not love the idea of being Santa Claus? This is an American Christmas comedy where a divorced dad(Scott) who has his son Charlie for Christmas Eve helps Santa Claus with a small Christmas crisis and unknowingly agrees to be the next Santa Claus. Now he must hide this from his former wife, who becomes very suspicious of him. This movie is a very funny one which should be enjoyed with a loved one. It buttresses the amount of work put in by Santa Claus to ensure everyone good throughout the year gets what they asked for. From the sliding down the chimney to the riding of the reindeer this is a must-watch during Christmas.

Conclusion

 No matter how many times the movies have been seen they are all still bucket list-worthy, this is because some bring back childhood memories, others make us think of splendid times in our youths, and others remind us of times we spent with someone we miss. For whatever reasons at all, all these movies and more awaken memories and bring more holiday cheer to the season, there is nothing better than a binge of movies that breathe that jolly holiday feel.
