Capybaras

Don’t confuse them for “Giant Hamsters’ ‘, Capybaras are the largest rodents on the planet. While they look super cute with their pig-like structure and tiny eyes and nose, they are also super intelligent and use water to escape from threats like Eagles. Due to their tiny eyes and ears, they can be in the water for some time with just the top of their head hanging out.

Tigers

These big mighty cats are not only deadly on land but they also resort to water to hunt their prey. Tigers are specialists when it comes to catching prey in water. They can splash in water without making a sound which helps in catching fish. Their feet are webbed which allow them ito be great swimmers. They might also just go in the water to keep themselves clean and to cool down

Rabbits

Yup, believe it or not, Rabbits are incredible swimmers. This one shocked me as well! These cute, tiny, fluffy creatures have been gifted the ability to swim from a really early age. Rabbits can start swimming as young as a few days old.

Cheetahs

Just like Tigers, these big cats can swim too. They might not be as fast as they are on land but they sure can swim! However, they are not the biggest fans of it. Cheetahs won’t swim till they really have to. That could be due to floods or just to go to a new territory.

Sloths

Sloths have a reputation of being “slow” and “lazy” but they are actually excellent AND fast swimmers. They can swim 3 times faster than they can walk on land.

Cows

Cows usually swim to cool down and can stay in the water for a decent amount but it depends on their strength. Cows can swim from an early age. Weaker cows might drown if they are in the water for too long.

Polar Bears

Polar Bears can swim in those ice-cold waters to catch prey or to go from one place to another.

Elephants

We all know how big Elephants are but did you know they can weigh up to 14,000 lb! But that doesn’t stop them from enjoying the water and being good swimmers. Elephants usually just dip in the water to cool down since they tend to get hot often because of their big and heavy body.

Pigs

Similar to Capybaras, Pigs are fine swimmers and they don’t just swim in muddy water. Pigs enjoy swimming in clean and clear water. Their body helps them even float! (You can say, they have in-built floaties ..haha..sorry!)

Kangaroos

Last but not least on our list is Kangaroos. Kangaroos are good swimmers and can swim for a decent amount of time at once due to their strong back legs and body.

Conclusion

Did this list surprise you? The way the Universe works always surprises me. These animals have been gifted with the ability to swim as well as walk. Had they not, they would probably not survive in the wild.

Even if you are as mighty as a Tiger or a Cheetah, you might still need an escape route from a territory, or you just need easy prey and that’s where the ability to swim comes in for these animals.
