Walgreen first opened its doors in 1919 in Walgreens in the heart of Chicago. The founder of Walgreens, Charles R. Walgreen, was a pharmacist.

Walgreen Pharmacy is a company that is based in Chicago, Illinois, and has a $17 billion market share. In 2016, the company was ranked number 38 on the Fortune 500. The company is known for its stores that sell a large variety of products and its delivery service. Walgreen has stores in Canada, Europe, South America, and the Middle East.      

Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy are two of the largest pharmacy chains in the United States. Both chains operate hundreds of locations across the country, offering a variety of services and medications for both prescription and over-the-counter medications. 

Walgreens is the second-largest pharmacy after CVS Pharmacy with a turnover of $136.86 billion.

Although both chains are pharmacies, there are a few key differences between CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens. For one, Walgreens has a different approach to the business: it is a chain of stores selling a variety of products, while CVS Pharmacy is a company that is only in charge of the sale of medications, with the chain consisting of locations where you can buy prescription medications as well as over-the-counter products. 

Rite Aid:-

Rite Aid is a chain of retail drug stores founded by William S. Rite in 1962 in San Francisco, California. Rite Aid acquired the chain of stores in the mid-1960s when it was called Checker Drug Stores. Rite Aid began franchising in the late 1960s, making Rite Aid stores independently owned and operated, instead of being owned by independent drug chains. 

Rite Aid is a retail store chain that provides pharmaceutical and health products. It is one of the largest pharmacy chains in the United States, with over 14,000 stores in 32 states. 

CVS Pharmacy and Rite Aid are two of the most well-known pharmacy chains in the United States. Both chains have locations throughout the country, offer a variety of pharmacy services, and have come under fire for various business practices. 

In 2019, CVS’s revenue was almost 10 times that of Rite Aid but it does not make Rite Aid any less as it has built a position in the industry that cannot be washed away.

Cigna:-

Cigna is a major health insurance company that is based in Connecticut. It has over 50 million customers in the United States. Cigna is the third-largest health insurance company in the United States. Cigna is a large health insurance company headquartered in Connecticut that primarily offers health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplaces. Cigna is one of the nation’s largest health insurers, with more than 54 million members in more than 45 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. 

Cigna’s turnover in 2019 was slightly more than half of CVS Pharmacy’s. But Cigna deals with health insurance while CVS deals majorly with pharmacy services.

Cigna provides health insurance to individuals and small businesses through Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company, PPO health plans, and consumer-directed health plans.

Humana:-

Humana Pharmacy was the last remaining pharmacy in the United States to still offer mail-order prescription drugs. They were the first pharmacy to offer mail-order prescription drugs in the United States. Humana Pharmacy was founded in 1965 and it is currently located in Louisville, Kentucky. The company is one of the largest insurers in the United States and covers 1 out of every 5 Americans. It operates in more than 70 countries and has more than 22,000 employees. 

As of 2014, Humana Pharmacy offers over 300,000 prescription drugs, including drugs that are covered by CVS. The majority of drugs that are dispensed at Humana Pharmacy are brand-name drugs. CVS Pharmacy, on the other hand, is a chain of more than 10,000 drugstores that are located throughout the United States. 

United Health Group:-

The company is one of the largest insurers in the United States and covers 1 out of every 5 Americans. It operates in more than 70 countries and has more than 22,000 employees. UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) is one of the country’s largest healthcare companies, providing a wide range of health insurance products and services, including employer-sponsored, individual and Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE benefit programs. 

UnitedHealth Group is a diversified Fortune 500 company that provides a wide variety of health insurance and other benefit programs, such as prescription drug plans, to over 27 million people. 

The two companies’ operations and services are quite different; however, CVS Pharmacy is often seen as a competitor to UnitedHealth Group, given their similar product lines and geographical coverage.
