The manual wheelchairs cost $15.00 to rent out and the electric scooters cost $ 35.00 to rent out 

Wheelchairs and Scooter Rental 

The wheelchairs and scooters are available for rental at Columbus Zoo and Aquarium to assist handicapped individuals. Personal wheelchairs and scooters are also allowed on Zoo property. The wheelchairs and scooters are rented out on a first-come/first-serve basis meaning that you cannot reserve the items beforehand. You can find the rentals at the Village Rentals and Provisions area, situated inside the Zoo, next to the front entrance. The rental fee for the wheelchair is $15.00 and for the scooter, the fee is $35.00 To rent out the scooter you will also need a valid Membership or state ID. 

The manual wheelchair can be used by people of all ages but the scooter has an age restriction for safety reasons. Only visitors who are 18 years or older can use the scooters and their body weight should be below 300 pounds (lbs). The scooters can only be used by one guest at a time. It is also important to note that the scooters are not ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design) approved 

One of the other things to consider when renting a scooter is the battery life. The battery life of the scooter is affected by the weight of the user, the terrain and the length of stay at the Zoo. People who weigh less will get more battery life than those who weigh more. The great thing is that the Zoo will provide a replacement scooter or a charging cable if the scooter has a drained battery.
