1. Using a gift card, you can make a purchase. You should plan ahead how much you will spend at Shoppers Drug Mart and then buy a Shoppers Drug Mart gift card equal to that amount when you walk into the store. For example, are you going to spend $50? From the cashier, purchase a $50 gift card, and then shop as you wish. What’s the point? Of course, to earn points! I’ll tell you how. 2. Shoppers Optimum Mastercard is the best way to use it when you are making purchases. Shoppers Optimum Mastercard customers can earn Optimum points quickly by using it. Shoppers Optimum Mastercard customers will earn 25 points per $1 purchase instead of 10 points per $1 purchase when using the card at any Shoppers Drug Mart location. Additionally, you’ll earn 5 points for every $1 you spend on anything else (restaurants, hotels, clothing stores, etc.). This card comes with no annual fee, and you’ll receive 15,000 bonus points with your first purchase. Optimum points will be offered to cardholders of the Royal Bank of Canada’s new debit card beginning March 17, 2012. Additionally, when you open an account, you will earn 50,000 Optimum points!
