Will There Be Wifi Service In Ryanair In Near Future?

According to Ryanair’s Chief Executive Officer – No. In an interview with The Sunday Business Post he states that the setup behind installing free WiFi service in all the Ryanair Planes is not cost efficient and simply not worth it:

“On average, flight distance is still only an hour and 15 minutes and the vast majority of people now are getting on board our aircraft, they have already downloaded Netflix and whatever else it is. They don’t need wifi and they’re unlikely to pay the cost of it. If it isn’t revenue generating, frankly, we wouldn’t be introducing it.”

How Good is Inflight Wifi Service?

If compared to the wifi at home and your workplace, the wifi that is provided by your aircraft is extremely unreliable due to weak connectivity and poor network that often faces turbulence and other weather-related conditions. Moreover, the majority of Inflight wifi services are available only after purchasing a certain service plan which might seem unsatisfactory for a short 2-3 hour duration flight.  Apart from that InflightWifi service of certain aircraft providers are not open to certain sites which include adult websites, OTT platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, and might limit passenger’s watchlist.

Reactions over Ryanair Inflight Entertainment?

According to  Air Fleet ratings and Flight equality customers were not so content with their experience of the Inflight entertainment provided by RyanAir. A lack of Tv screens on the airplanes left many passengers fuming with anger and disappointment despite the official website of the aircraft confirming otherwise. Some passengers also did not have magazines provided in their seats and the movies and songs were either not matching with their taste or too old for current times.

Conclusion

After 9/11 the airline industry not just in America but all over the world suffered a significant moral and financial blow. Since then the main purpose of the majority of Aircraft carriers is keeping the passenger’s safety and comfort in mind. From the turn of the century, the internet has become cheap, affordable and in turn accessible to most of us which have led it to be available in the least necessary places, even during our journey on board a flight.

Some critics argue that for an airline to provide maximum ease to a passenger, availability of Wi-Fi is necessary while others claim that certainly, a 2-3 hour journey without internet will do a person no harm. The arguments have divided the critics yet in no uncertain terms, the changes in Ryanair depend on the management and its effectiveness to adapt in coming years.
