Best Thermostat Remote Sensors

Thermostats

Now, before we get to the topic at hand, a simple question needs to be answered, what exactly are we talking about when we say remote sensors in a thermostat? So, in a few words, remote sensors in a thermostat sense the temperature, humidity, and/or pressure in a place and wirelessly transmit the data to your device. Now that you know what a remote sensor is and how it works, we’re back to the quest of which one is best. Since there are a million options available in the market these days, one must focus on the features that work best for them while selecting your device.

Thermostats with remote sensors are always a good option because, unlike the regular ones, they do not judge the temperature of one point and judge the entire house’s temperature based on that.  The remote thermostat, on the other hand, gathers information about the entire house, analyses it, and makes an informed decision. So keeping these features in mind, a list has been curated to help you select the best thermostat for you.

  1. Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat
  2. Google Nest Learning Thermostat
  3. Honeywell Home T9

1. Ecobee4 Smart Thermostat–  This one is for the people who would prefer Alexa automation in their thermostat as a priority. It has Far-Field voice technology which will help you control it from across the room. You can adjust temperature and other settings from either your Android or iOS devices.  For my environmentally conscious readers, this thermostat is perfect for you because it is outstanding when it comes to energy saving. It also has the feature of adding extra or additional sensors in case you might need them. Moving on to the more general features of this product, it has a touch display, works with voice assistants like Alexa and Siri, and has built-in motion sensors.

It is easy is install and works on dual-band Wi-Fi. Now, like every coin has two sides, this one-of-a-kind product does, too. While this product is recommended as the best thermostat with a remote sensor, it does have a few drawbacks that I must list for your easy and quick selection. First on my list of cons is definitely that it is not battery powered. You will have to plug it into a C wire to charge it as that is the only way. It also does not have the feature of auto-learning. Another one of its downsides is that it is a bit pricey. You can buy this product for $219.00 at Amazon and for $249.99 at ecobee.

2. Google Nest Learning Thermostat– Second among the thermostats with remote sensors, is the Google Nest Learning Thermostat. This is perfect for anyone who wants auto-learning as a feature. This is a built-in feature and it asses your surroundings and gives a better, accurate result.

It is easy to install, has a sleek design, and has voice assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa. Just like our previous product, this one also supports additional sensors. Another one of its pros is that it works without a C wire. It is battery powered and you only need to periodically change that. Now speaking of some of its downsides, it does not have motion sensors. This prevents your product from recognizing the presence of people in the room which would affect the temperature greatly. It also does not have a touch display nor does it have an energy reporting feature. You can buy it for $249.00 at the Google store and for$197.99 at Walmart.

3. Honeywell Home T9– this product works best when you place the sensors in the areas you want to monitor your room’s temperature and humidity. Unlike our first product, this can read both temperature and humidity. It is battery powered so it does not require a C wire. It has remote access, motion sensors, and a touch display. Moving on to the cons, it does not have an auto-learning feature, it does not show any energy reporting and most importantly, it does not integrate directly with other Honeywell devices which some users can find unhelpful. You can find it for $199.00 on Amazon and for $199.99 at Best Buy.

How is a thermostat with a remote sensor better than one without it?

A thermostat with a remote sensor allows the thermostat to collect data on the temperature in different places of a house allowing it to function better concerning the maintenance of the temperature of said house.

In conclusion, it is important to understand the device we’re buying because not only will this help you to understand thermostats and their variety better but also will prove useful in deciding which one is the best suited for your home.
