  1. Your eligible listings are automatically enabled for Afterpay, so you don’t have to do anything extra
  2. When your listings include an Afterpay option, you won’t incur any additional costs.
  3. The buyer manages their repayments through Afterpay, so you still get paid in full. eBay handles the rest.

Payment with Afterpay

The way you’re paid doesn’t change, and you can use Afterpay at no additional cost. You will see Afterpay as a payment option at checkout if it’s available for your eBay purchase. If you do not already have an afterpay account, you will be asked to create one. 

When Afterpay is available, make the following changes to your order:

  1. When checking out, customers have the option of selecting afterpay as their payment method. 
  1. Afterpay account if they don’t already have one, customers can create an account. 
  1. Once they have reviewed their Installment Plan and payment details, they can complete their checkout.
  1. In the normal course of business, upon placing the order you’ll be paid in full for it. It will be as usual for you to ship the item to the customer.

So you do not have to do anything, since Afterpay is automatically available on all eligible listings. You’ll get paid for the order in full and you won’t even know nor have any idea that the buyer has used Afterpay. To keep your customers happy, you simply need to continue providing them with great services. 

The only difference is that if you’re using a voucher or eBay gift card, you can still use Afterpay. Make sure you enter any redemption codes you’re using and select Apply before completing your order.

Afterpay declined

As a responsible shopper, the longer you have been using Afterpay, the more likely you will be approved for your purchase. Every time you make a purchase, afterpay evaluates your repayment capability. 

When Afterpay is unable to accept your payment, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  1. The card you used was declined
  2. Your account has reached the spending limit for Afterpay
  3. Afterpay still owes you money
  4. The information you provided to Afterpay could not be verified.

When you checkout, you still have the option to pay by another method, such as a credit card. Just choose another payment method when you choose your payment method.   

Refund 

If you return an item after making an eBay purchase, afterpay will reimburse your credit card for the cost and/or adjust your repayment schedule accordingly. This usually takes 2-3 days, but may take up to 10 days in some cases.  

The Installments you’ve already paid will be refunded, and the payment plan will be canceled. In the case of a $100 order with $50 paid so far, Afterpay will refund you $50 and end your payment plan.
